New Homes

Schedule us last: Our installers should be the only people to walk on your new floorcovering before you do. Your installer will need power and to be able to use the driveway of your home to unload. Please remember that newly painted walls and skirting dry quickly but take longer to harden. To prevent damage to newly painted surfaces allow at least two days for the paint to harden before having your new floorcovering installed.

If you will not be there for installation please advise us at Errol Smith Flooring of your arrangements for access and payment.

Door clearance: Occasionally a door is too low to clear the new floorcovering. Between 35mm and 40mm clearance from the floor is necessary. If required we can put you in touch with a tradesperson who will professionally adjust your doors for you.

Expectations

We are committed to providing you with the highest level of flooring and service; however to avoid disappointment please be aware of the following points.

Seams: Today rooms are larger, have more light and less furniture. It is impossible for seams in carpet and vinyl to be invisible; however in larger, more open rooms seams are more noticeable.
The plain vinyl, Plush, Sisal, and Berber carpets popular today do not disguise seams the way that a floorcovering with a pattern does. Seams are inevitable; however with today's installation techniques and materials, they can actually be stronger than the material itself. Let our professionals at Errol Smith Flooring provide the highest standard of installation.

Lighting: Light can play tricks on carpet, making one side of a seam appear lighter than the other side. Again this is more prevalent in plain carpets. This becomes less evident when furniture is in the room and window dressings are installed.

Perfect colour matching: Exact colour and pattern matching of printed carpets is not possible due to their method of manufacture. Our installer will match colour and pattern as best as the material will allow.

Shading: Shading is considered a characteristic of quality carpets. Plush pile, Twist pile and Woven carpets will show areas of shading. Shading is the light and dark areas created by pile lying in opposite directions within the carpet. This can occur irrespective of traffic or room usage.

Installment day
You’ve agonised over the choices, matched your walls and décor with the flooring choice and the big day has finally arrived. Most installations are completed in the day. Larger or more complex installations may take two or more consecutive days. Our installers are professionals and will take the time to finish your new floorcovering just right.

Tip: Remember not to schedule timing of the installation too tight, e.g. book installation for Friday and move in Saturday. Allow a day "safety margin" between completion of work by other trades people and your floorcovering installation. Err on the side of caution. It may be easier to bring your installation forward a day if all goes according to plan than to delay it a day if otherwise.

What time will the installers arrive?
Life is hectic and we understand your busy schedule. To avoid planning issues, please feel free to phone us at Errol Smith Flooring Service Centre between 9am and 4pm on the working day prior to your installation. We will be able to give you an approximate time that the installers will arrive.

Invoice payment
Prior to commencing work, our installers will confirm with you the amount owing and that you will pay them on completion. Accounts are settled on the day of installation.
Should you wish to pay by credit card, you can leave your card details with our installer or phone our service centre on 3823 1222 to leave your details.

Insurance: If your floorcovering is to be replaced through insurance we will need prior approval from your insurance company. Without this, it is your responsibility to settle the account and claim back from your insurance company.

Finance: If you are taking advantage of finance our installer will ask you to sign a delivery advice. We will forward this to the finance company.
