Living areas:
• Remove what furniture you can. Remove all breakables such as ornaments, vases and crockery.
Take particular care to remove items of sentimental value; these cannot be replaced.
Clear out bookcases and sideboards.
Remove drawers from cabinets; disconnect TVs, videos, stereos and computers.
Drain aquariums.
Bedrooms:
o Strip beds, clear desks and dressing tables and empty or remove drawers.
o Clear wardrobe floors.
o Drain waterbeds. (It is advisable to call in specialists who will drain and refill the bed)
o Today, a lot of furniture is assembled in the room and cannot be removed without disassembling it. If this is the case, it is your responsibility to disassemble the furniture prior to our installer’s arrival and reassemble it after the installation. (e.g. beds, wardrobes, tables, desks)
Kitchens & Laundries: Disconnect the dishwasher and washing machine. (Remember to reconnect these immediately after the installation). Please note that gas appliances must be disconnected and reconnected by a licensed gas fitter.
Tip: In some instances your installer will advise you not to replace a heavy appliance for 24 hours. This ensures adhesives and finishes are set to prevent damage to the new floorcovering.
Skirting and trims: If you are repainting skirting, sand the original surface sufficiently to allow the new paint to bond. Newly painted surfaces should be allowed to harden prior to the installation of your floorcoverings (refer to the paint manufacturer's instructions for the appropriate drying times).
Tip: It's a good idea to keep a small quantity of paint for “touch ups “as tools used in carpet installation may come into contact and possibly mark the skirting.
